In collaboration with the Creative Writing Program at NYU Shanghai, this generative workshop will introduce you to ekphrasis and other approaches to creative writing derived from the practices of visual artists. This workshop is open to all levels (no background knowledge of art or creative writing required) and is open to all members of the NYU Shanghai and GoLocal community.
We will meet in the ICA gallery (Room 100), where we will explore the exhibition, try out some writing techniques, and spend the remainder of our time writing together about the art that surrounds us. Participants will also receive a free journal. Please RSVP.
All discussions will be held in English.
In conjunction with ponds among ponds: an exhibition of threshold behavior & nested life.
ponds among ponds and its related events are presented as the final season of The (Invisible) Garden, a two-year artistic research program that inquires into the garden as a method that shapes our understanding of Nature and our relationships to other species. From Fall 2019 through Spring 2021, the ICA at NYU Shanghai presents artists, thinkers, and practitioners, through exhibitions and events, to consider the garden and ask how might we denature Nature?
