The observation of nature is the cornerstone of developments in the natural sciences and natural history. Hu Ruiqi is a young biologist and a participant in the Motuo fieldwork associated with this project. He will synthesize his rich field experience with recent scholarship to discuss insects, the most diverse group of organisms in the biological world. He will explain the evolution and classification of insects, share methods and techniques for observing insects in the wild, and present pictures of the field research process, showing how we can understand more about the vast unknown from some of Earth’s smaller living things.
