The artists Candice Lin and Patrick Staff invite you to join a full moon ritual on Monday, 30 November.

Before the full moon (30 November), the ritual requires a three week preparation period starting on 9 November.  Participants will receive an email with instructions, along with a recipe and a list of ingredients, which can be provided by the ICA during 26 October - 6 November.*

On the eve of the full moon (29 November),  participants will receive an email with a link to a guided audio meditation, written and recorded by the artists.  Based on their collaborative writing, the meditation will lead participants through seeing in their mind’s eye an alternate world, as they are guided through a series of interactions with objects, other bodies, and an exploration of their own body parts.

On Saturday, 5 December at 11:00 (China Standard Time), the artists and Full Moon Ritual: Toxic Sex participants will gather online to chat and share their experiences.  The conversation will be facilitated by Shanghai-based writer and curator, Alvin Li, and will be held in both Chinese and English with simultaneous interpretation.

To participate, please register HERE by 25 October.

In conjunction with STRESSES HERMS, SWEAT, & PERIOD GAS., an exhibition by Candice Lin and Patrick Staff.

STRESSED HERMS, SWEAT, & PERIOD GAS. and its related events are presented as the third season of The (Invisible) Garden, a two-year artistic research program that inquires into the garden as a method that shapes our understanding of Nature and our relationships to other species. For four seasons, from Fall 2019 through Spring 2021, the ICA at NYU Shanghai will present artists, thinkers, and practitioners, through exhibitions and events, to consider the garden and ask how might we denature Nature?
