Opening on 24 September 2020, the ICA at NYU Shanghai presents an exhibition of Los Angeles-based artists Candice Lin and Patrick Staff, STRESSED HERMS, SWEAT, & PERIOD GAS.  (on view through 19 December 2020).  Exhibiting for the first time together in mainland China, their collaboration marks the re-opening of the ICA’s gallery after the cancellation of the Spring 2020 season due to the COVID-19 outbreak. 

Please join us for an all-day reception to celebrate the ICA’s re-opening and the start of our Fall 2020 season!  Attendance is limited to the NYU Shanghai community only.*  


In conjunction with STRESSED HERMS, SWEAT, & PERIOD GAS., an exhibition by Candice Lin and Patrick Staff.

STRESSED HERMS, SWEAT, & PERIOD GAS. and its related events are presented as the third season of The (Invisible) Garden, a two-year artistic research program that inquires into the garden as a method that shapes our understanding of Nature and our relationships to other species. For four seasons, from Fall 2019 through Spring 2021, the ICA at NYU Shanghai will present artists, thinkers, and practitioners, through exhibitions and events, to consider the garden and ask how might we denature Nature?
